How is ore turned into steel? Steel metallurgy takes you through the whole thing How is ore turned into steel?

Steel from the original iron ore, through continuous sintering smelting, rolling, heat treatment and mechanical processing, finally get the finished product. Let’s understand the steel production process together:
Steel production process – steelmaking
1
Coking process
2
Coking production process: coking operation is the process of mixing coke coal, crushing it and adding it into the coke oven after dry distillation to produce hot coke and crude coke oven gas.
Sintering process
3
Sintering production process: iron ore sintering operation department will powder, all kinds of flux and fine coke through mix after mixing, granulation, through the system to join the sintering machine, cloth by light fine coke ignition furnace, through a complete sintering suction windmill convulsions, hot sinter of after cooling, sieving, sent to the blast furnace as the main raw material of smelting iron.
Blast furnace production process
4
Blast furnace production process: blast furnace operation is to add iron ore, coke and flux from the top of the blast furnace into the furnace, and then from the bottom of the furnace blast nozzle into high temperature hot air, reducing gas, reducing iron ore, producing molten iron and slag smelting process.
Converter production process
5
Converter production process: The steel mill first sends the fusion milling to the pre-treatment station for desulfurization and dephosphorization treatment, and then according to the characteristics and quality requirements of the steel types in the order, sends it to the secondary refining treatment station (RH vacuum degassing treatment station, Ladle Injection filling drum blowing treatment station, VOD vacuum oxygen blowing decarbonization treatment station, STN mixing station, etc.) for various treatment and adjustment of liquid steel composition. Finally, large steel embryo and flat steel embryo continuous casting machine are sent to cast into red-hot steel embryo semi-finished products, which are inspected, ground or burned to remove surface defects, or directly sent downstream to be rolled into strip steel, wire, steel plate, steel coil and steel sheet and other finished products.
Steel production process – rolling

Continuous casting process: Continuous casting is the process of transforming molten steel into steel embryo. The liquid steel processed upstream is transported to the turntable in a large steel drum, divided into several strands through the liquid steel distributor, and injected into the casting mold of specific shape respectively, which begins to cool and solidified, forming the casting embryo with solidified shell on the outside and liquid steel on the inside. Then the casting embryo is drawn to the arc-shaped casting channel, and continues to solidified until it is completely solidified after secondary cooling. After straightening, it is cut into blocks according to the length of the order. The square shape is the large steel embryo, and the plate shape is the flat steel embryo. The semi-finished product is treated by the surface of the steel embryo, and then sent to the rolling mill for rolling.
Small billet production process

Small steel embryo production process: the large steel embryo is produced by the caster and heated, derusting, burning, roughing, finishing rolling and shearing, then the small steel embryo with cross section of 118mm*118mm is produced. 60% of the small steel embryo is inspected and ground to remove surface defects, and the supply of strip and wire mill is rolled into strip steel, wire coil element and straight bar steel products.
